Artists are invited to paint outdoor scenes throughout Glendale, including the historic downtown area, which will be filled with all kinds of chocolate, people and entertainment on Saturday, Feb. 10, during the Plein Air Painting Competition held during the Glendale Chocolate Affaire.

2018 Plein Air Painting Competition

8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. • Promenade on Palmaire in downtown Glendale
The event is open to artists (18 years of age & older) who paint using the Plein Air technique in oil, watercolor, acrylic or pastel. Plein Air (open air) paintings are executed outdoors.
Paintings must be done within Glendale city limits. Canvas size not to exceed 18x24. All artists must bring their own materials and easels and register prior to any work being done. Registration will take place from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on event day at the Promenade on Palmaire in downtown Glendale.
Between 3:30 to 4:00 p.m., artists will line up with their artworks on easels along the Promenade on Palmaire for judging to begin at 4:00 p.m. Award categories are purchase awards and the winning
paintings will be accessioned into the City of Glendale’s permanent art collection. The award categories are:
• Council Choice Award - $1,000 award
• Best of Show - $1,000 award
• Second Place - $500 award
• Third Place - $250 award
This event is presented by the City of Glendale Public Art Program in conjunction with Special Events and the Annual Glendale Chocolate Affaire, which takes place on February 9-11, 2018.
