Watson Lake, Prescott Paint Out

This paint out is one of four paint outs occurring over a long weekend in the Prescott/Jerome/Sedona area. Other locations include Mingus Mountain, Jerome, and Crescent Moon Day Use Site. Meet near park entrance.

What can I see/do at Watson Lake? 

Boating: There are two boat launches at the lake, as well as canoe and kayak rentals available. 
Fishing: Carp, catfish, crappie and largemouth bass can all be found in the lake. 
Bird watching: The Watson Woods Riparian Preserve is located nearby and boasts hundreds of bird species, including eagles and pelicans. It is also endorsed by the Audobon society. 
Hiking: The Peavine and Iron King Trails are both within walking distance of the lake. Both are relatively flat and make for easy travel. 
Camping: During the summer months, campsites are available for visitors. Restrooms, showers, picnic tables, grills, fish cleaning stations, boat ramp are all available to guests.
Where is the lake?

Watson Lake is about four miles from downtown Prescott. To reach it, drive north on Highway 89 for a little over three miles until you reach the traffic circle. Here you’ll take the first right, directly into the park.

When is it open?

The lake is open 7A.M. to 10P.M., May to September. From October to April, the hours are 7A.M. until dusk.

How much does it cost?

There is a $2.00 parking fee.
