Super view of the cliffs and Salt River Canyon across the lake, can also see the Four Peaks. Opportunity to paint water, reflections, waves.
North from Apache Junction on 88 Apache Trail, to Canyon Lake. Meet at "Acacia" picnic and swimming area, the first left turn after you get down along Canyon Lake.
There is probably ample parking right along the water but if not, there is an adjacent convenient parking area you can drive back to after surveying painting sites.
Early morning or mid afternoon light might be more interesting with shadows on the cliffs.
Can paint, meet for lunch and critique under picnic shelters.
Nearby Tortilla Flat a little further along on 88 is a good break for mid day if preferred to painting mid day.
Fairly quiet place to paint in the winter, much busier in summer.
There are many other views to spread out to as well.
