Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights is a “Jewel in the Desert” that has intrigued people in the Valley of the Sun for 90 years. The “Castle” continues to spark the curiosity of passersby, due to its unique location – now in the heart of the Phoenix metropolitan area – visible to all, yet secluded by the forty-four acres of preserved desert surrounding the structure

Originally intended as a centerpiece for a resort and later a private residence, the castle is now part of the Phoenix parks system and is a Phoenix Point of Pride, an Arizona Centennial Legacy Project and on the National Register of Historic Places.

Our paint out includes a 1-hour tour, followed by painting from 1 of 2 locations - north platform and south platform, only. No other areas are available to paint from.

Although the main attraction of the site is the Castle; a four-story, 5,000 square foot architectural wonder perched atop the highest point of the granite-rich property. February should be ideal timing to capture cactus in bloom! There are 44 acres of groomed cactus gardens and undisturbed natural Sonoran Desert flora cascading from the Castle, providing scenic backdrops and vistas.

Only 12 tickets are available and we must have 12 participants for this event to be a go! Please purchase your tickets as soon as possible, the deadline if just a few weeks away. Tovrea Castle tours are hard to come by! If we are unable to secure 12 people, we will refund money to those who paid.
